Tumblr Tuesday: These are a few of my Favorite Things

And now all my readers have that song stuck in their head after reading the title of this post....*evil grin* (Clueless about the title? Google "song + these are a few of my favorite things" and hopefully you'll understand.)

Anywho "Tumblr Tuesday" is another new feature on my blog where I'll share my finds (or own posts) from Tumblr on the last Tuesday of every month. These posts will be a combination of things I find interesting, cool images, and research for my writing or crafting. Here's the link to my Tumblr site if you'd like to see more of what I post over there. =)

The "theme" of this post is some of my favorite things I have found images of on Tumblr (as the title suggests)...

Craft Project: Plushy Mustache

Today we have another new feature of my blog where I share a recent crafting/sewing project of mine. Some of these projects will be simple things I do for fun, some will be the crafting projects I make to sell, and others will be the costuming work I do. I'm still working out the bugs of this feature, so bear with me and enjoy my crafty side. (Perhaps I'll spark some inspiration?) The craft project I'm sharing with you for this post are these cute little plushy felt mustaches I made last week.

First, a bit of back-story: one of my best friends had her birthday earlier this week and to celebrate she wanted to have a mustache-themed party. I'm not sure why mustaches in particular, but she's an odd gal so everyone just went along with her idea. Now most of the guys attending the party had their own mustaches (and beards), but us ladies needed to acquire our mustaches elsewhere. And I, being the crafty-minded person I am, decided to make my own! (Yes, I'm a bit crazy...in case you hadn't figured that out already.)

The Dark Days Experience

Last Friday, I went to the Dark Days book tour event here in Austin, TX. (Check out my previous Dark Days "explanation" post here.) I was very excited to meet the authors and hear the discussion panel about their books and writing. I even saw several fellow bloggers there as well: Jen from I Read Banned Books, Stephanie from her blog, Amy & Brittany from The YA Sisterhood, Katie from Mundie Moms, and Magan from Rather Be Reading.  I also meet some new friends that night like Erica (who sat next to me during the event) and several others.

Me & Erica - I love meeting new people!

Book Review: The Body at the Tower

Welcome back for another Thursday book review by yours-truly! Today I'm reviewing the second book in The Agency series. You can find my review of book one here.

The Book...

The Body at the Tower
(The Agency #2)
by Y. S. Lee

"This is another colourful, action-packed Victorian detective novel about the exploits of agent Mary Quinn. At a young age, Mary Quinn is rescued from the gallows and taken to Miss Scrimshaw's Academy for Girls. The school turns out to be a front for a private detective agency. At age 17, Mary takes on her first case (A Spy in the House). In this, the second book of the series, Mary Quinn sets out to uncover the truth behind a suspicious death at St. Stephen's Tower, better known as the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. The accident occurred after hours in a highly public part of town and despite the presence of night watchmen. Mary, disguised as Mark Quinn, becomes a builder's assistant to find out the truth about the body at the tower." (via Goodreads.com)
