This is my second installment of Random Acts of Publicity week. (If you missed my last post, click here to read about some awesome authors and click here to find out more about R.A.P.) Today I will share some more authors and their books that I have discovered here on the blog-o-sphere. (And come back Saturday for my post about authors I have met in person!)
You can find many things on the internet these days, including fantastic books you have never read. Then after finding said books, you can find their authors' websites and twitter accounts as well. And while you don't need to know the author and learn anything about the author to enjoy a book, I have found that it's often entertaining and allows me to enjoy the book even more.
Here's a list of just a few of these authors I've discovered recently. (And as a side-note, I learned about their books through other bloggers. See, word of mouth is an writer's best publicity):

Elana Johnson -- I actually discovered Elana and her debut book Possession because of a blog contest given by Roni Loren (mentioned in Tuesday's post). I was super excited to win an ARC of it. The book is a futuristic dystopian story about a girl with the choice of her heart and her life: be controlled and be with her chosen match or join the rebellion and be with a stranger who stirs something deep inside her. (I'll be doing a review of it here on my blog in the near future, so be on the look for it!) When Elana isn't writing her next book or teaching, she can be found blogging at a blog-group called The League of Extraordinary Writers or working on WriteOnCon, an online writing conference for children's literature. Check out Possession or its companion book Surrender (coming Summer 2012).

Maureen Johnson -- I also discovered Maureen and her newest book The Name of the Star through another ARC giveaway. The book is paranormal mystery about a teenage girl trying to start her new life in London

These three ladies may all write YA literature, but each has their own unique voice and genre-style. Find any new books that strike your fancy? Once again, word of mouth is the best way to publicity!
