Book Review: A Spy in the House

Welcome to my first book review of 2012! *throws leftover confetti from New Years*

The Book...

A Spy in the House
(The Agency #1)
by Y. S. Lee

"Rescued from the gallows in 1850s London, young orphan (and thief) Mary Quinn is surprised to be offered a singular education, instruction in fine manners — and an unusual vocation. Miss Scrimshaw’s Academy for Girls is a cover for an all-female investigative unit called The Agency, and at seventeen, Mary is about to put her training to the test. Assuming the guise of a lady’s companion, she must infiltrate a rich merchant’s home in hopes of tracing his missing cargo ships. But the household is full of dangerous deceptions, and there is no one to trust — or is there? Packed with action and suspense, banter and romance, and evoking the gritty backstreets of Victorian London, this breezy mystery debuts a daring young detective who lives by her wits while uncovering secrets — including those of her own past." Welcome Back in 2012

Hello again, my lovely readers! Sorry about my impromptu hiatus at the end of last year. Other things kept getting in my way, my schedule was all screwy, and then the holidays hit! I won’t bother you with details, but now I’m back…for good this time!

When I started this blog (way back when), I had no idea what I was doing. I just wanted to share things, have a place to jot down my opinions, and join the online community to connect with others. Now while I have done all these things, I’ve still neglected to get the hang of this whole blogging and planning thing. So over the past week, I’ve devised a schedule for my posts revolving around my passions of writing, reading, and crafting/costuming/theatre. Hopefully every Tuesday and Thursday, you’ll find a post about one of these three topics here at “May-Day’s Daze”.
